NOTE: If students intend to follow this session using a booked DDS computer the must bring their own wired headphones!! |
Technical Learning Objectives:
Over two half days we will learn how to setup and create a single page document in InDesign, leading on, in the second half day how to extend that into a multi-page document, either for print or online distribution. Relevant Resource Health & Safety Issues: Note to staff students: If you have a disability or learning needs, or as member of staff, you are aware of any of your students who have special requirements, please email the instructor confidentially before the workshop or pay them a visit to discuss the specific need. If you are planning on accessing DDS facilities, book a workstation through the Connect 2 system. Please be aware of Covid-19 measure in place in all DDS rooms. Keep your distance, and clean your workstation before and after your session. Thank you. |

Part 1: (Half day) Booklet/Catalogue/Portfolio in Indesign: Beginner/Intermediate Students will be introduced to the options for placing and modifying images and text in InDesign, in order to produce a catalogue/portfolio. Areas covered will include, Booklet planning, project management; document set up, graphic/text frames, formatting docks, colour, creating new swatches, image frames, placing images, import options, scaling, rotating, image formats, placing text, arrangement and layers, pages palette Duration of Workshop: (Half day) |

Part 2: (Half day) Booklet/Catalogue/Portfolio in Indesign: Beginner/Intermediate The students will be shown the workflow improving and adjusting tools when designing a multi page catalogue/portfolio. Areas covered during the workshop include, document production workflow, links palette, pages palette, master pages, document grids, auto page numbering, drag copy, alignment tools, character styles, paragraph styles, object styles, baseline grid, importing text, threading text, flowing text, file packaging, imposition, Print to Booklet, saving as PDF Duration of Workshop: (Half day) |
